Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach J.B. Bickerstaff Signs Multi-Year Extension

A Proven Leader and Rising Star in the Coaching Ranks

Long-Term Commitment to Success

The Cleveland Cavaliers and head coach J.B. Bickerstaff have come to terms on a multi-year contract extension, the team announced on Saturday, December 25, 2021. Bickerstaff, 42, has led the Cavaliers to a 29-31 record so far this season, putting the team in contention for a playoff berth.

Bickerstaff's extension is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and ability to develop young talent. He has fostered a winning culture in Cleveland, instilling a strong work ethic and team-first mentality throughout the organization.

Bickerstaff, a former NBA player, began his coaching career as an assistant coach with the Charlotte Bobcats in 2004. He later served as an assistant with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Houston Rockets, and Memphis Grizzlies before joining the Cavaliers in 2018.

In his first season as head coach of the Cavaliers, Bickerstaff led the team to a 40-22 record and the NBA playoffs. He was named Eastern Conference Coach of the Month in February 2021.

"We are thrilled to extend J.B.'s contract," said Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman. "He is a proven leader who has done an incredible job with our young team. We believe he is the right coach to lead us to a championship."

Bickerstaff expressed his gratitude for the contract extension and his commitment to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"I am honored to continue to lead this team," Bickerstaff said. "I believe in our players and our staff, and I am excited about what the future holds for the Cleveland Cavaliers."
