Career Highlights

John Tenta, better known as Earthquake, was a Canadian professional wrestler and sumo wrestler who had a successful career in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) from 1989 to 1994. He is best known for his feud with Hulk Hogan and his work with Typhoon as The Natural Disasters tag team.

Sumo Wrestling

Tenta began his career as a sumo wrestler in Japan, where he achieved the rank of makushita 10. He competed in sumo for several years before transitioning to professional wrestling.

Professional Wrestling

Tenta debuted in WWF in 1989 as Earthquake, a massive and intimidating wrestler billed at 6'7" and 487 pounds. He quickly gained attention for his destructive power and his signature move, the "Earthquake Splash." Earthquake feuded with several top stars in WWF, including Hulk Hogan, Andre the Giant, and Bret Hart.

The Natural Disasters

In 1991, Earthquake formed a tag team with Typhoon, known as The Natural Disasters. The team became one of the most dominant in WWF, winning the WWF Tag Team Championship twice. They feuded with several top teams, including The Legion of Doom and The Hart Foundation.

Later Career

Tenta left WWF in 1994 and wrestled for several other promotions, including World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW). He also returned to WWF for a brief period in 1998. Tenta retired from wrestling in 2004.

Legacy

Earthquake was a popular and successful wrestler who is remembered for his size, power, and charisma. He was one of the most dominant wrestlers in WWF during the early 1990s and helped to establish the promotion as a global phenomenon.
