Yankees Reinstated Rizzo, Call Up Effross, Leaving Dominguez in Minors

The New York Yankees have reinstated first baseman Anthony Rizzo from the 10-day injured list and recalled right-handed reliever Lucas Effross from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rizzo had been sidelined since May 16 with a lower back issue, while Effross was optioned to the minors on May 14 to make room for the return of starter Jameson Taillon.

To make room for Rizzo and Effross on the active roster, the Yankees have optioned outfielder Estevan Florial and right-handed reliever Miguel Castro to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Rizzo is batting .240 with five home runs and 16 RBIs in 34 games this season, while Effross has a 4.05 ERA in 17 appearances out of the bullpen.

Domínguez, the Yankees' top prospect, was not called up despite his impressive performance at Triple-A, where he has a 2.08 ERA in six starts.

The Yankees are hoping that Rizzo's return will provide a boost to their lineup, which has struggled to score runs in recent weeks.

Effross will give the Yankees another option out of the bullpen, which has been taxed in recent days due to injuries and ineffectiveness.

Domínguez will continue to develop in the minors, and the Yankees are confident that he will be ready to contribute at the major league level in the future.

Conclusion

The Yankees made several roster moves on Wednesday, reinstating Rizzo from the injured list and calling up Effross from Triple-A. They also optioned Florial and Castro to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Domínguez, the Yankees' top prospect, was not called up despite his impressive performance in the minors.
